About

The Delaware Prescribed Fire Council is dedicated to promoting and protecting the safe, responsible, and effective use of prescribed fire as a vital land management tool. Through education, outreach, and collaboration, the Council works to increase public understanding of the many ecological, environmental, and community benefits that prescribed fire provides.

The Council supports the development and implementation of locally appropriate prescribed fire practices that help landowners and land managers achieve their resource management objectives while minimizing impacts to neighboring communities. By fostering communication among practitioners, agencies, organizations, and the public, the Council serves as a forum for addressing prescribed fire issues, sharing technical information and best management practices, and advancing practical solutions at the local, state, and national levels.

The Delaware Prescribed Fire Council is also committed to supporting the training and education of landowners and land managers who conduct low-complexity prescribed burns on private lands, helping to build knowledge, confidence, and capacity for the safe application of prescribed fire across Delaware.
